Horrible Haircut Today...

This is me about a week ago...
(me with cute long bangs)
I went to a nice salon in Evanston...paid more than $50 ...
Me: I am trying to grow my hair out. So, I just need a trim. Please don't take any length off. However, I do like to have a little bit of an A-line because I like the front longer than the back.
Hairstylist: Okay...
45 minutes later:
Me: Sniff, Sniff
(I am crying all the way home from the salon. He chopped my bangs and the back of my hair off. He also cut it very uneven).

I am so frustrated. I called the salon asking for my money back. They told me that is not their policy. I forgot to tell them my policy is to tell everyone how crappy their salon is....hopefully is will ruin their business. The manager was practically fighting with me about my hair. She said she saw it when I walked out and it looked fine to her. Whatever!
(bangs are too short, it looks fine from this angle)

What to do next? Try another salon? Cut it myself? Have Holland cut it?

does this look right to you?

or this?
All I know is that I have never had so many issues with my haircuts. I have gone 29 years with GREAT haircuts and then as soon as I move to Illinois it all goes to H*ll. Has anyone here gone to beauty school? I am a self taught stylist and it is not that hard!

Okay cuz, you cant put up a post about your hair and not attach a picture! I need to see the proof. You look cute whatever you do!!!!

I'm sorry Rachie- that stinks. I wish I knew someone out there who could help you! Actually, Aaron's cousin and his wife just moved to Indiana, and she is a hairstylist.

Or you could just fly out here when Kelly's sister Nicole comes to town- cause she is awesome! Oh wait- you already have a good hair-girl-sil!

And I hate to say it, but a picture is required.

When I lived in Philadelphia good haircuts and color was pretty much non-existent, and always a rip off! I don't know what it is!

I'm so sorry, I had my hair colored last month, got home and my husband said, "your hair is gray!" I went back, she put a toner in, but I still didn't like it. No refund either..I was upset, but I know that's not as bad as a haircut. I'm sorry! When that happens it is soooo upsetting.
You are gorgeous no matter what though!

I'm sorry Rachel. That is totally uneven. I would go back and show them what a terrible job he did. What bad customer service! What's the name of the place so none of us go there? I have to admit though, you look good no matter what your hair looks like!

First I want to tell you that I don't think it looks too bad. Secondly I know how you feel...I have had about 5 bad haircuts and it is so frustrating. I think it is especially weird that the manager agree with the stylist since I am almost positive that the little stray piece shouldn't be there.

Did you pay with your cc? 'Cause I think you should call the cc company and stop payment on that purchase.

I am soooooOOOo sorry!

Rachel, I have had hair problems before and they are not fun!! On the positive side -It will grow back... But I would go back and show them the bad job they did. someone there should fix it for free!!! I agree with everyone else you are so cute whatever your hair looks like.

I think you should go back and try to fix it too. That's ridiculous. I'm with Laurel if you put it on your credit card--it would serve them right.
Beside the uneven line and random chunk hanging down, it looks pretty cute--mostly because it's on you!

Seriously, Illinois can bite me! The hairdressers suck here. I have an appointment on Saturday and am crossing my fingers that I won't come home in tears (again). I'm constantly having to find new 'dressers, and I, too, have yet to get a refund, even when they left me with bleach spots. (The owner said they looked "edgy".)

Anyway, if any one can make it work, you can! Hang in there! (And tell me when you get a good hairdresser.)

Oh, and print off all these comments when you go back - see if they can defend themselves after we - your friends, who would be most likely to lie and say you look great - all agree that they did a p*sspoor job at cutting your luscious locks.

I recently got the same cut...way shorter than I'd expected and the stylist thinned it out so much I feel like a have no hair. While it's growing out, I'm flipping the back up and using a little pomade to make it spiky. Might be an option for you too???

Mrs. Dub & Rach--I have a good hairstylist if you're willing to go to Libertyville! I can sympathize--I had a haircut that looked like a mullet about 4 years ago and it took forever to grow out. I hated my hair for at least a year!

Thats a bummer Rach, I HATE bad hair cuts even if everyone else tells you it looks good, if you don't like it, it just sucks.

I guess you just need to move back. :)

Sorry about your hair. It actually doesn't look too bad. Maybe we should send prego Lee to Chicago to help out!! He He

Give Ryan the scissors

There is this awesome picture of Jen, Beck and I from about ten years ago where we all have these short bangs and kind of ugly hair. The problem is that our hairdresser is in the photo with us. Go Jen! At least the person who cut your hair doesn't live with you.........
p.s Don't worry, Jen knows it was a mistake to cut our hair that way. She paid dearly for it. :)

Oh Rachie....I am so sorry. Seriously, nothing makes you feel as good or as bad as a haircut - so a bad one is really devastating. You still look so dang cute and the first pic, you are a babe but I have to say you are right about the back. It doesn't even look even. Hey, Kendee used to cut my hair in Jr. High, maybe she could help you out.

UGH! I am sorry - and no it does not look right! Did you try calling back today? Going in and showing them all the crappy things he did?!?!? I guess the good thing is, hair does grow back, it just takes FOREVER! Especially when you hate the way it looks!!!

Ok- I would be so bugged. I will take one for the team and get my butt out there and try to find a good stylist here in IL for us. The two times i have been here i havent been impressed so i am on a mission to find someone capable of doing a decent job- just decent is all we ask.
But like everyone has already said, you and your hair look darling no matter what- that still doesnt make it all better though does it?

Roney Family said...

Okay rachel, I think it doesnt look that bad. You are so beautiful you make that look good. Have the hubby help you trim it in the places that need it. But otherwise, good luck, sorry you are going through that.

Rach...it's so cute, I really like it, but I see how she missed a spot. Crazy!

So funny or not so funny that you just got a bad haircut because I did too. I actually had to pay for the horrible haircut when she butchered me, I get home and Neil says "I hope you didn't pay for that, and I really hope you didn't give her a tip." But I of coarse had done all those things and it didn't make him happy. Then I end up going to my regular hair girl and I payed for 2 haircuts and my hair is the shortest it's ever been. :( I am soooooo sad, I too want my long hair back. :(

I have totally cried after a bad haircut too. I am so sorry you had such a miserable experience! I really think you should put the salon's name with this blog post so we can all avoid it...

New to your blog and just wanted to say that I love the idea of your cut, it was just poorly executed and I am sure you could go to another stylist and have it cleaned up. I'm not so sure I'd go back to the other place. No matter what you are a pretty girl! :)

You might have already fixed it, but I have the same cut, and when I push the hair certain ways, it looks like yours in the pic. It's a cute cut. You might just need to try styling it your own way. Sometime you need to round brush it more, don't flat iron. Flat irons don't always make the cut look good. So, if you can find someone to blend the back a little better (although it's not too bad) and cut the first layer of your neckline shorter so you don't have any pieces sticking out like in the pic, so the hair will lay over it nicely. I am a hairdresser. Hope this helps.

I hope you aren't sad anymore because I'm sorry - your hair is ADORABLE (minus the random stray hairs, although you are cool enough you could just say you are starting a trend)!!! Anyway, you are gorgeous no matter what!

That's funny! I moved to L.A. and haven't found anyone I like there! I get my haircut every time I come back to Chicago. I just got a haircut yesterday and when my stylist said, "I really want to come to L.A." I said, "Why don't you come visit me in about 3 months--and bring your scissors!" Check out Alene at Shear Elegance in Northbrook--she's a wizard!
