Is this bad?

I bought this yesterday. It is a cute little monkey backpack (and harness). Can I really put a leash on my kid? Isn't that against some sort of law?

I think I may have to return it....

I need to get one of these! Then maybe I can stop using the dog leash I have been making Caleb wear (haha). Seriously, though, what are you supposed to do with a 2-year-old who doesn't respond to the commands "Stop!" and "Please come back here!" If you keep it, let me know how it works!

I totally and completely believe in those harnesses - I would be all over that, especially with 2 year-old twinners!!

I'm visiting your blog through a link on Anne L.'s page, and I had to comment on the backpack/leash... I have friend who had twins, and she swore by these, so I bought one about a year ago for my then-two-year-old. Let's just say, it didn't work out! First of all, I wasn't woman enough to take all the sideways glances and whispers at the mall. Second, my son seemed to innately know that he was on a leash, and he rebelled the instant I tried to harness him up. He still has a grudge against backpacks, in general, which I attribute to our ill-fated attempt at the backpack/leash.

*sigh* I wish you better luck!

No No it's brilliant. Don't for one minute think you are a bad parent because you don't want to lose your child. Of which you have 2, the same age. If they made one for Grant's age I'd buy it and use it!

I used to think I would NEVER get a leash for my kid...but my mind is changing. I have a friend who had one for her son and swears that it is the best purchase of her life. Good luck with it.

Keep it!! It is so much more humane than screaming at your kids every two minutes to stay by you. Anyone who has EVER had kids will not give you weird looks. It's always the people without kids or the older ladies who have forgotten what it's like to literally chase kids around :)
p.s. I'm a friend of Emily O. :)

I have the doggie version. I bought it a few months ago before a trip with the boys alone. I tried, but couldn't even get it on Griffy's back. It ended up taking up a lot of space in my diaper bag. If you can get your kids to wear it, then it's awesome! Good luck!

A Leash for Lucas? Hmmm... Tempting.

I've been b-sitting 5-yr-old twins for the last few weeks and every day when I pick them up from preschool, one of the kids in their class has a little 2-yr-old brother who has that same exact leash - his mom says if he isn't wearing it he is likely to go running out into the street (and it's hard to keep track of a crazy little toddler in the mass of parents/nannies picking up kids) - I think it is a well-accepted practice, especially when it's made into something cute like that!
