Giving it up....

I am giving it up Diet Coke. Yes, you heard me right!
Since drinking it regularly I have pick up a several bad habits. Not only do I drink that liquid Satan everyday, I have to eat it with cookies, ding dongs, and peanut M&M's. I have put on about 5 diet coke pounds. Zero calories my butt! It is truly liquid Satan. That aspartame is really bad for you body too.
From what I have read, that stuff is poison! Apparently the FDA has received more complaints about aspartame than any other ingredient to date. AND when it is paired with carbs, it causes your brain to slow down its production of serotonin. A healthy level of serotonin is needed to be happy and well balanced. According to this book, drinking diet soda can make you fat, sick, and unhappy. You are probablywondering where I go this info. Well, I read about it in this book.

So, if you see me with a Diet Coke, please do not say anything. I am probably having a really bad day and needed to drink some liquid Satan.
Do you think you could live without the juice? Or have you given it up and have some tips?

When I was in highschool, I became addicted to Mountain Dew - yes addicted, one day I said I needed a drink, that was the catalyst I needed. For several years, I didn't carbonation at all ... now it's a drink here and there, 2-3 a year. I love Diet Coke as well - especially with Lime!!! It's not easy giving up something you love - that's why I haven't given up chocolate. But the positive way you feel afterward is very much worth the reward!

Good luck! By the way, I'm picking up that book too! Thanks for the 411!

I've been wanting to read that book for awhile now, but you gave me the final push. Although, you are already one skinny B to me. Plus, I don't have a diet soda addiction, I have burrito addiction. I have a feeling that could be harder to break.

Good luck!

hahaha,
Keenan wants to know if you are giving it up for Diet Dr. Pepper?

I just can't drink diet.
I am allergic to aspartame - it builds up in my body and I get shut down my life end up in the hospital migraines!

Good luck!

And I already think you are skinny...
but I understand you are talking about feeling healthy!

I am seriously addicted. I am worried about nursing again cause I will have to give it up. Your sis told me once that her OBGYN said you can drink about 20 oz a day without trouble pregers. I am holding to that (allthough I don't have the guts to ask for myself). Give me a couple of more months and I will be there with you, yikes!

This explains a lot about why you have been so emotional at work lately. I had no idea you were in need of an intervention to quit the "liquid satan!" Take some time off work...this is a big step! Tracy and I are here to help...well probably more so me because Tracy is really more concerned about Cash. But I wish you the best of luck in quitting!

Good for you. That is so funny. If it were a Pepsi it would crack me up even more! Taking after grandmother!

We must be on the same kind of wavelength. I am glad you are giving up the juice... I just posted today about all the pop out there and me feelings on it... not quite the same as yours but kinda spooky on the timing. I miss you and I fully support you. Good luck.

That's why I buy cases of Diet Coke with Splenda. I guess I feel better drinking that fake sugar than the other. So if that's just as bad, then don't tell me, I don't want to know.

I stumbled upon your blog...I actually can't remember how I got here. I hope you don't mind me commenting.

I am *struggling* with Coke Zero withdrawals. I finally gave up the Pepsi and Coke addiction, but now Coke Zero is my new one :). But the trainer I work with just chastised me about the drink 2 days ago. So as of today...NO more, COLD TURKEY. And I may have migraines for the first week but I hope feeling better will be worth the *loneliness*. :)

Best of luck!
