Cheap, Ugly Diaper Bag

I have a little obsession with diaper bags. I own 5 official diaper bags, and these do not include the purses I have transformed into diaper bags. I can't seem to find one that is cute and practical and in my budget.

I went through a cheap, practical stage and bought this bag:

It is small, has all the great compartments which one requires with 2 small kids. I can carry it over my shoulder, as a messenger bag or over my stroller. Did I mention the strap is adjustable? It has gender, neutral colors and it retails for $15.
Catch: It not a cool, hip brand name...and maybe not even cute.

I went through a cheap, Target phase and bought this:

The red one is cute, but does not match with everything I wear. If you did not know this about me already but, I am a matchy, matchy girl---and PROUD of it! Anyway, I like this bag, but I do not LOVE it. Here is another cute bag from Target.
Catch: Because it is from Target you may see alot of people using them.

I went through a cheap, babystyle phase and bought this one...

I bought this bag while I was on bedrest in the hospital. I saw it online and loved the $20 price tag. But had I saw it in person I may not have purchased it. It is pink, and guys don't like to carry pink bags (I know pink is in style for men's clothing, but not bags). The bag is shaped weird and did not work for me for as everyday diaper bag. However, it is from Babystyle and I loved buying something from a cool, hip online store.

I would love to buy this and this and this diaper bag. I am just too financially responsible (just a nice name for cheap). I guess if I decided to stop buying lots of cheap bags and spent the same money for 1 nice bag I would not be writing this post.

Who am I kidding? I know myself too well...I like to change my handbag every season. I better not purchase the expensive ones or I may need to get a 2nd job. So, if anyone else it having the same dilemma as me, check out this website with tons of diaper bags to choose from.
Catch: They are pricey!

p.s. Found another cute diaper bag ...may just have to change my mind thanks to Mandee's website.

ONLY 5 !?!?!! I won't even tell youhow many I own. Let's just say, I had one for "evey outfit"! Or something like that... Keenan said, no more diaper bags. WE have a big plastic bin full of them... And speaking of the non cheap side, my sister gave me a coach bag for my b-day, which I now use as my toddler/ pre-school bag... My problem was not finding one that fit just right...

I have the same problem. I stew over purchasing diaper bags more than anything else really. I finally got the skip hop bag after about a year of hating my other one. I just can't get it right, I want functionality, style and price, while not being humongous. My mom told me I should sew exactly what I am looking for... not going to happen.

I am there with you. I go through stages where I just give up, but right now I have been looking A LOT. Since Noah is almost a 1 1/2 years, I feel like I can go small, but when I buy a non-diaper bag for my diaper bag I end up hating it because the sippy cup will end up spilling on my wallet. Maybe we should start our own business - affordable stylish diaper bags. :)

I have a bag fettish too! When my twins were born, I went with the Land's End bag - love it! Although I've gone through several more. Deseret book has a cute line of totes that if you buy the big bag, can transform into a small diaper bag. Lillian Vernon also has some cute cheap bags. Oh wait, maybe telling you where to find more isn't a good idea!

I have three diaper bags, not including my purses I've converted...two are from Target (I also have the red one) and one is from the Gap. I am not a big fan of any of them because no matter how hard I try to stay organized I can never find my keys, wallet, cell phone, bottle, binky...so I am just getting through it until I can either afford one I really love (but I am not sure if a high price will help with the organizational issues) or I stop having children.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've been carrying diaper bags for so long that all my purses are now out of style. Grant & I currently disagree - he thinks I still need a diaper bag and I'm convinced I can now carry a regular purse. Grant's right - I can't seem to get my purse to close properly once I have all the stuff I need. You need to check out this website: www.miabossi.com. I'm willing to get pregnant again just so I can get one of these diaper bags!

And if you also didn't know this about Rachel, she has an "outfit" for every event, store, gathering... her "going to Target" outfit, her "exercise" but not really exercising outfit... I love that about you Rachie!

Aaron's cousin was one of the audience members on the Ellen show when she did her Baby Show- and she got a Mia Bossi. So jealous.

And I still love my Fleurville bag. Almost 2 years later I am still using it as my primary diaper bag. Although, I am watching Amazon and Ebay for the 2 Red Hens bag in "Soy Sauce". It's the Japanese in me coming out.

I am SO embarrassed to say that my diaperbag collection consists of the Similac ones that they send you home with from the hospital. I've never really been a "purse" kind of girl...although Rachie and I went to every stinking Ross in Phoenix to find me just the right purse; found it, and then I returned it once we got back to Salt Lake.

I think I need some counseling about this.....Maybe once my baby is a little bit older, I will "try" to become more like you all.

Go Rachel! You've got expensive taste! The Mia Bossi I want is $365 and I've had to promise Grant that I will use it as a travel bag for years to come if I ever even get the bag!

So funny! It's amazing how difficult it is to find a good one!
